Viking FK: Eight Consecutive Seasons at the Top and Still Climbing
Viking FK's 2026 Eliteserien campaign continues to impress: 13 wins from 17 matches, a perfect home record at Lyse Arena, and just one point separating them from league leaders Bodø/Glimt. The defending champions show no signs of surrendering their title as the season reaches its critical second half.
Champions Proving Their Worth
Viking FK are the defending Eliteserien champions, and the 2026 season is leaving little doubt as to why. After 17 matchdays, the Stavanger club have recorded 13 wins, one draw, and three defeats, accumulating 40 points to sit second in the table — just a single point adrift of Bodø/Glimt.
The statistics paint a picture of one of the most potent attacks in Norwegian football. Viking have scored 40 goals in 17 Eliteserien matches, conceding just 17, for a goal difference of +23. Only Bodø/Glimt, with +31, have a better differential in the division.
Lyse Arena: A Fortress in Stavanger
Lyse Arena has been central to Viking's campaign. The stadium, with an official capacity of 15,900, has hosted seven home league games this season — and Viking have won all seven. The 5–0 demolition of Bodø/Glimt on 11 April stands as a highlight of the entire Norwegian football calendar so far in 2026, with the ground packed to capacity for that clash.
Average home attendance across the Eliteserien season stands at 15,781, reflecting the enormous support Viking continue to draw. The 2026 campaign is Viking's eighth consecutive season in the Eliteserien and their 76th overall in the Norwegian top flight.
What Lies Ahead
With 13 Eliteserien matchdays still to play — including crucial home fixtures against Kristiansund (13 September), Lillestrøm (20 September), Fredrikstad (18 October), Tromsø (25 October), KFUM Oslo (8 November), and Vålerenga (29 November) — Lyse Arena will once again be at the heart of the title pursuit.
Viking also have a Norwegian Cup tie away at Brodd on 2 September to navigate, before European football enters the picture in the 2026–27 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds. The ambition at Viking Stadion has rarely been higher.
