Viking FK made the trip to Sparebanken Norge Arena on Friday 1 August to face IK Start in Eliteserien round 16. The table-toppers arrived in Kristiansand in commanding form, having won nine of their first ten league matches to sit on 27 points — a remarkable return that leaves them well clear at the summit of the 2026 Eliteserien.
Start, by contrast, had managed just seven points from their opening ten games, making the hosts heavy underdogs heading into the evening kick-off.
