Perfect Home Record Intact as Viking Climb to Eliteserien Summit
Viking FK remain joint-top of the Eliteserien after a 3-0 victory over Lillestrøm at Lyse Arena on September 20. The win extended their flawless home record to ten wins from ten matches in Stavanger, keeping them level on 50 points with Bodø/Glimt heading into October.
Summit Defended at Lyse Arena
Viking FK reinforced their position at the top of the Eliteserien with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lillestrøm at Lyse Arena on September 20, leading 2-0 at half-time before adding a third after the break.
Goals from K. Haugen in the 8th minute, Stensness in the 43rd, and a Christiansen penalty in the 79th sealed the result in front of 15,740 supporters — one of the biggest home crowds of the season.
Numbers That Tell a Story
The result keeps Viking level on points with Bodø/Glimt at the top of the Eliteserien, both sides boasting 50 points from 21 matches. Viking's goal difference of +34 tells the story of a side in commanding form, having netted 54 goals while conceding just 20 in the league this season.
At Lyse Arena, the record is immaculate — Viking are yet to drop a single point on home soil in 2026, with ten wins from ten matches in Stavanger.
A Fortress Built All Season
The Lillestrøm win followed a remarkable 8-1 demolition of Kristiansund BK at the same ground one week earlier, when an attendance of 15,659 witnessed a seven-goal second half. The two results underline just how formidable Lyse Arena has become as a venue for visiting clubs this autumn.
Managed by Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim and Morten Jensen — now in their sixth season together at the helm — Viking have turned their home ground into one of the most difficult venues to visit in Norwegian football.
Eyes on a Packed Autumn
With the title race tightening, Viking face a crucial run of fixtures over the coming weeks, including an away Eliteserien trip to SK Brann on October 9, a home Eliteserien clash against Fredrikstad on October 17, and a Norwegian Cup tie against Madla IL on October 1.
Lyse Arena will also host a UEFA Champions League group-stage fixture against Bayern München on October 13 — a tie that signals just how far Viking FK have come since their return to the top flight of Norwegian football eight years ago.
