Lyse Arena Gears Up for Historic European Night on 26 August
Lyse Arena is set to host a UEFA Champions League play-off second leg on 26 August, as Viking FK continue their sensational 2026 season. The Stavanger ground has been a fortress all year, with seven Eliteserien home games played and seven won in front of near-capacity crowds.
A Home Fortress Like No Other
Lyse Arena — the 15,900-capacity stadium in Stavanger that Viking FK call home — has become one of the most intimidating venues in Norwegian football this season. Viking have played seven Eliteserien home matches in 2026 and won every single one, recording an average attendance of 15,781 per game. That figure places the arena among the best-supported grounds in the country.
The highlight so far came in April when title rivals Bodø/Glimt were routed 5–0, a result that sent shockwaves through the Eliteserien and announced Viking's title credentials to the rest of Norway.
European Nights Return to Stavanger
Lyse Arena is set to host an electric UEFA Champions League play-off tie on 26 August when Viking welcome either Dinamo Zagreb or FK Kauno Žalgiris for the second leg of their qualifying clash. A 21:00 kick-off under the Stavanger lights promises to be one of the most memorable evenings at the stadium in recent memory.
Tickets for the fixture were listed on the club's official website, and demand is expected to be fierce given the historic nature of the occasion. The first leg is played on 18 August, meaning supporters will arrive at Lyse Arena knowing exactly what is needed to progress.
What Lies Ahead at Lyse Arena
After the European showdown, attention quickly turns back to domestic matters. Aalesund visit on 29 August in Matchday 19 of the Eliteserien, followed by further home fixtures against Kristiansund (13 September) and Lillestrøm (20 September) as Viking push hard for a second consecutive Eliteserien title.
With the atmosphere inside Lyse Arena already at a season-long peak, supporters heading to Stavanger this month can expect some of the most compelling football the stadium has seen in years.
